Film "Oz: The Great and Powerful" merupakan prekuel film petualangan gadis kecil Dorothy di "The Wizard of Oz" (1939). Dikisahkan Oscar Diggs (James Franco), seorang pesulap sirkus yang tanpa sengaja terdampar ke dunia penuh keajaiban di Oz. Di Oz, Oscar kemudian mengaku sebagai seorang penyihir hebat. Sialnya, kabar tersebut didengar oleh tiga wanita penyihir, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), dan Glinda (Michelle Williams) yang tidak mempercayai bahwa Oscar adalah seorang penyihir hebat seperti yang diakuinya.
Disaat yang sama, dunia Oz mulai ditimpa bencana. Apakah akhirnya ia benar-benar berhasil mengatasi kekacauan tersebut dengan 'sihir' nya?
