To celebrate Jennifer Lopez’s new Kohls clothing line, “Classic: Remixed,” McCann NY hired famed director Darren Aronofsky to film a new commercial featuring J.Lo , some pretty fancy editing-enhanced wardrobe changes, and a cover of the Kiki Dee Band’s 1974 single, “I Got the Music in Me.” The results are a bit of a fever dream, which makes sense considering Aronofsky directed one of the best fever dreams of the last five years, “Black Swan.” Fortunately, there is no toe-nail torture in the new Kohls ad — just glitz and GLITZ .

When I was a freshman in high school, I begged my parents to buy me N.W.A’s “Straight Outta Compton.” At the time, the only other rap album I owned was “I’m the D.J., He’s the Rapper” by D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. The continuous loop of “Parents Just Don’t Understand” that played in my bedroom was then replaced by “F-ck tha Police” (played very softly so my parents couldn’t hear it, I should add)
Though my own hit rate on Oscar predictions was just a bit over fifty percent, I was still smiling at the end credits. Coming off last year’s debacle hosted by zombie-like James Franco and the impossibly chirpy Anne Hathaway, it was gratifying to see the Academy finally regain their footing and pull off a winning telecast. Much of the credit goes to Billy Crystal, who, like his predecessor Bob Hope, seems like he was born to host these awards…
